80/20 grass tournament
what:
divisions:
>>men's beach open 2's, with 20 team limit (space permitting, 20 team limit will increase)
>>women's beach open 2's, with 20 team limit (space permitting, 20 team limit will increase)
$1000 for 1st place and $280 for second place in each division (prize money is based on 20 team entry.)
need 20 teams minimum combined between men and women, or no tournament

saturday, october 25, 2008 at 9:00 a.m.
rain date: sunday, october 26, 2008 at 9:00 a.m.
check-in time:
8:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m., tournament begins at 9:00 a.m.
teams arriving after 8:45 a.m. (or incomplete teams) forfeit their first match, depending on the circumstances. this is at the discretion of the tournament director.
format (read closely):
maximum of six 4-team pools per division
teams will be placed into pools randomly.
team names will be pulled out of a hat to make each 4 team pool, while everyone is watching.
pool play: 2 games to 21, rally score (first to 21 wins)
playoffs: one game to 21, rally score, no cap, win by 2
top 2 teams of each pool progress to single elimination playoffs.
advancement to playoffs is determined by (in order):
games won
head-to-head
positive point differential of all games
coin flip or any game of chance
teams will be selected randomly for all rounds of playoffs and/or if "byes" are required. 1st place teams in one hat, and 2nd place teams in another. i'll pull a #1, then a #2, etc.; then the same for the last round of playoffs.
the 3rd place team from pool play must stay to officate the first round of playoffs.
2007/2008 usa volleyball beach rules. short court, antenna, etc. uniforms not required :o)

teams losing during playoffs must officate the next match.
teams that don't complete their officiating duties won't be allowed to play again.

cost: $80 per team. 2008 avpnext membership required for each player.
prizes: 1st and 2nd place teams receive 80% of the total entry fee example: 20 teams x $80 = $1600 $1600 x 80% = $1280 prize money $1000 for 1st place and $280 for 2nd place (space permitting, prize money will increase) additional prizes:

the math: if there's less than 20 teams in a division, using 10 teams as an example:
10 teams x $80 = $800
80% x $800 = $640 for total prize money
80% x $640 = $512 for 1st place
20% x $640 = $128 for 2nd place
